Stamford, CT, September 28, 2023 – ApiJect Systems, Corp. (“ApiJect”), a medical technology public-benefit corporation, is delighted to announce that its Single-Dose Prefilled ApiJect Injector has been named a Finalist in the prestigious CPHI Pharma Awards 2023 in the category of Drug Delivery & Device. The winners will be announced at CPHI Worldwide 2023 (Oct. 24-26, Barcelona). CPHI Worldwide is one of the largest premier tradeshows for the biopharmaceutical industry.
For 20 years, the CPHI Pharma Awards have recognized companies demonstrating leadership in the development of innovative new technologies to advance drug discovery, development, and manufacturing. 2023 Finalists were selected from 181 entries across 12 categories including Digital Innovation, Manufacturing Technology & Equipment, and Drug Delivery & Device.
The Prefilled ApiJect Injector, the first prefilled prototype designed on the ApiJect Platform, is a compact, prefilled, single-dose injector designed to enable any injectable to be delivered in a prefilled format. The Prefilled ApiJect Injector is manufactured by aseptically fill-finishing a dose using the Blow-Fill-Seal (BFS) process, enhanced with ApiJect Smart Temperature Technology. Prior to injection, a healthcare professional pushes a proprietary IM Needle Hub onto the BFS Container, transforming it into a prefilled drug delivery system. Once the needle is inserted into the patient, the nurse squeezes the soft plastic BFS Container to inject the dose. The manufacturing and filling of BFS containers, and the production of Needle Hubs, are cost-effective at any scale and built on a compact, resilient supply chain.
While the current Prefilled ApiJect Injector is designed for a 0.5mL fill, ApiJect is developing additional BFS-based devices to deliver larger and smaller volumes and other parenteral drug delivery challenges.
