ApiJect Announces Appointment of Key Pharmaceutical and Device Professionals

Using Blow-Fill-Seal Technology to Manufacture High-Volume, High-Speed Single-Dose Prefilled Injectors –

Stamford, CT, March 15, 2023 – ApiJect Systems, Corp. a medical technology company whose platform is designed to help pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies efficiently fill-finish and deliver injectable medicines in prefilled delivery systems, is pleased to announce the addition of several industry veterans to key technical leadership positions.

Jay Walker, ApiJect Chief Executive Officer, stated: “ApiJect’s mission is to help our pharma partners better deliver their injectables to patients and markets here in the U.S. and globally.  With our world-class team of technical experts and management leaders we will make single-dose prefilled injectables even more efficient and reliable through substantial R&D focused on innovative device design and blow-fill-seal temperature management.”

Walker continued, “Given our purpose as an organization, we are pleased to welcome Christian Eichhorn, Lauren Shafer Greenberg, and Tony Wasilewski to the ApiJect team. Christian, Lauren, and Tony each possess the deep technical expertise in pharmaceutical development and project execution that we need to continue to transform how the world fills, finishes, and delivers injectable medicines and vaccines.”

Christian Eichhorn, Vice President, Packaging and Process Development

With over 17 years of experience in process and packaging development, Mr. Eichhorn heads these disciplines at ApiJect, defining strategy while directing and applying technical skills to programs and projects across the product development lifecycle.

His prior experience includes 12+ years with West Pharmaceutical Services, leading engineering teams that conceptualized and developed new products and integrated new technologies. Leading the Containment Expansion R&D team, he focused on the development of new product concepts through external collaborations, and integration of technologies such as additive manufacturing, novel containment, and advanced materials. As part of West R&D, he founded a new team to expand and centralize analytical engineering capabilities like mold flow simulation and finite element analysis to support rapid development of new container systems. He co-led the creation and rollout of West’s Innovation Playbook, an internally developed best practice guide and collection of tools to assist colleagues around the globe apply innovation best practices in their work. In addition to leading teams at West, Mr. Eichhorn gained experience in process engineering, operations, innovation and knowledge management, and R&D lab and facility management.

At Parsons Corp., he was Process/Project Engineer for several life sciences design build projects, including a 2011 ISPE Facility of the Year award winning biologics production facility. Mr. Eichhorn earned a B.S in Chemical Engineering and his Master’s in Engineering Management from Penn State University. He is a registered Professional Engineer in Pennsylvania.

 Lauren Shafer Greenberg, Vice President, Device Development

Ms. Shafer Greenberg leads Product Development at ApiJect. She brings 16 years of pharmaceutical industry experience to her role, focusing on the delivery of product designs and characterization data and methods, while providing strategic and technical direction for the combination product pipeline, and bearing primary responsibility for development, verification, validation, and advancement of ApiJect’s product portfolio. She also heads development of novel tools and processes to deliver on future product platform and licensee needs.

Ms. Shafer Greenberg was previously with West Pharmaceutical Services, holding increasing levels of responsibilities including, most recently, Director, R&D, Containment Systems. In this and earlier engineering roles, she has led multidisciplinary teams to design and develop elastomeric and polymeric container system components, 510(k) approved medical devices, and device constituents of combination products. Ms. Shafer Greenberg earned an undergraduate degree from Bucknell University in Biomedical Engineering and her Master’s of Engineering in Biomedical Engineering with a focus in Biomechanics and Biomaterials from Cornell University.

Tony Wasilewski, Vice President, Pharmaceutical Development Services

Mr. Wasilewski has 25 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry with a majority of his career focused on the development, delivery, and launch of generic injectables. As Vice President of Pharma Development Services at ApiJect, he leads client engagement focusing on the “drug” aspect of combination device programs. He and his team aid in the delivery of client development projects from lab scale early phase through late-stage development.

He previously spent 23 years with Fresenius Kabi holding roles in a variety of functional disciplines with increasing responsibilities that include new product development, program management, aseptic manufacturing, and R&D. In his most recent role, he led the newly formed 503B outsourcing business unit where he built a sterile injectable drug portfolio for hospital customers. Mr. Wasilewski earned a Six Sigma Green Belt along with PMP certification, offering advanced excellence in project and program management. Mr. Wasilewski earned his Master’s in Product Design and Development from Northwestern University as well as a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Northern Illinois University.
